A positive and engaging kindergarten environment plays an important role in supporting children as they prepare for school. At Charming Cherubs, our kindergarten program focuses on developing independence, confidence, and a love of learning in a way that feels supportive, engaging, and age-appropriate.
During the kindergarten years, children are developing stronger social skills, greater independence, and more complex ways of thinking. Our environments are intentionally designed to support this growth through meaningful routines, collaborative learning, and play-based experiences.
Educators work closely with children to strengthen self-regulation, cooperation, problem-solving, and early literacy and numeracy skills, ensuring children feel confident and capable as they prepare for the transition to school.
Children are supported to follow routines, manage belongings, and take responsibility for tasks, helping them build independence and confidence for the next stage of learning.
Pre-writing skills, phonics, number awareness, counting, and pattern recognition are explored through structured play, group experiences, and everyday learning moments.
Children investigate real-world ideas through science, nature, and themed discovery experiences that encourage curiosity, questioning, and critical thinking.
Kindergarten children are encouraged to take on leadership roles, build meaningful friendships, and develop a strong sense of identity, belonging, and community within the group.
Families can expect a balanced program that supports learning, independence, and emotional readiness for school.
Charming Cherubs offers a funded kindergarten program in line with Victorian Government guidelines.
To attend kindergarten in Victoria in 2026, children must be at least 3 years old by 30 April 2026.
Kindergarten follows the Victorian school terms, with Term 1 commencing on 27 January 2026.
Our Kindergarten School Readiness program runs Monday to Friday. Children are required to attend 15 hours per week across three days, with the option to book additional days if needed.
For full-year enrolment, families must enrol before 10 January 2026. Places are limited, and early enrolment is recommended.
Children can enrol at any time throughout the year. However, research strongly recommends at least one, and preferably two, years of kindergarten to support confidence, social connection, and emotional wellbeing before starting school.
Families can use the Child Care Subsidy to help calculate out-of-pocket costs.
In addition, eligible families may save up to $2,101 per child, per year through the Free Kinder initiative.
At Charming Cherubs, this funding is passed directly on to families and typically reduces fees by approximately $50 per week across the 41-week school term (funding does not apply during school holidays).
The funding appears clearly on statements as “VIC Kinder Grant”, allowing families to see exactly how it supports their child’s early learning.
Free Kindergarten helps make high-quality early learning more accessible, while we continue to focus on what matters most, care, connection, and meaningful learning experiences.
